PCB's and tag boards now in place in each chassis, only thing missing is the interstage which fixes between the two 300B sockets, where the nulling pot used to be.

And the power supply first stage PCB's attached to each power transformer:

Bit more progress - heater wiring now in place along with the mains connections.

I was able to verify that standby and remote power-up worked as expected, triggering the power relay and lighting up the heater on the 12SN7 at the other end of the chassis when turning on the pre-amp. The KT88 heaters will each be powered from the 6.3V secondaries on the HT transformers, so those are not connected yet.

I got the heater wiring from https://twisted-pair.co.uk/ - 20 and 22 AWG, comes in loads of different colours and saves having to twist the damned stuff yourself (probably my least favourite task). Sold as CAN bus cable but to me it looked perfect for the job. I used a 20AWG line to each 300B and KT88, 22AWG for the 12SN7 as its heater only draws 300mA.

Only takes seconds using a electric hand drill and bench vice.
I think the main reason why Europeans no longer want to travel to the USA is the big time difference. For me, it's now 7pm. In the USA it's now 1933.

Ha ha! I discovered the drill method accidently and then considered, well, why not! A nice application of a slowish drill speed and I can wind heater wire that can stretch to the Isle of Dogs.
Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.

<sound FX BUZZER> Over-ruled! The Isle of Dogs is located on a serpantine bend on the Thames....ergo, you'd have to have a big curve in your heater wiring ... unless you're winding in a straight line from Bedders to Dogs.

Slow drill in Bedford, vice on the Isle of Dogs?

You are assuming that's where he is starting from. He never said that...

I was about to reply to your raspberry sound and argue the case, but I have quelled my inner pedant and decided not to.

Though I have just replied to tell you I am not going to reply. Hmm.

The tube manual is quite like a telephone book. The number of it perfect. It is useful to make it possible to speak with a girl. But we can't see her beautiful face from the telephone number
